TALLAHASSEE - Senior Bobby Campbell went deep for the first time this season with a three-run home run in the third inning but it was not enough as Florida A&M rallied for the second straight game to hand the GW baseball team a 6-5 defeat in 11 innings on Saturday afternoon at Moore-Kittles Field.

GW (2-5) already had battled back to knot the score at 1-1 in the top of the second on a RBI double by Brandon Chapman, before Campbell connected on a three-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Colonials ahead, 4-1.

Colonials' starter Elliott Raimo turned in a quality start on the mound, yielding a pair of earned runs on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work.

FAMU (4-2) responded to tie the score in the bottom of the seventh on a pair of RBI singles followed by a sacrifice fly, but GW answered to regain the lead in the top of the eighth.

Junior Mark Osis hit a two-out single and moved to second on a base hit by Campbell. Junior Robbie Metz then came to the plate and poked a single to right field, driving in Osis, to put the Colonials back in front, 5-4.

In the bottom of the ninth, a one-out error eventually became the game-tying run as the Rattlers tied the score at 5-5 with a RBI single.

GW threatened in the 10th but stranded a runner on base before going down in order in the top of the 11th. FAMU took advantage and scored the game-winning run on a fielder's choice RBI with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th.

Junior Tyler Swiggart pitched 2.1 innings of relief, surrendering only an unearned run, while sophomore John Greeley took the loss after allowing a run and two walks with one strikeout in 1.1 innings.

The Colonials will look to avoid the sweep on Sunday when junior Robbie Metz gets the start in the series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
