ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - GW baseball was bested in its A-10 series opener on Thursday afternoon, falling to St. Bonaventure, 11-0.
The Bonnies scored early and often in their second conference win of the campaign, scoring single tallies in the first and second frames before blowing things open with four runs in the fifth, a run in the sixth, three in the seventh and another in the eighth.
GW mustered just six hits in defeat, all singles. Cristino Tufano tallied the only multi-hit effort on the day with a 2-for-4 showing.
Max Haug started and went 4.2 innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits with five strikeouts while being charged with the loss. Gavin Miller shined in relief with five punchouts in two frames, yielding just one unearned run on one hit.
Game two of the series is set for Friday with game time moved up to 1 p.m. due to projected inclement weather.
