GW Baseball Wraps Regular Season at Saint Louis

WASHINGTON - The George Washington baseball team concluded the regular season on Saturday afternoon, but fell by a score of 8-5 to Saint Louis in the series finale at Billiken Sports Complex.
GW (23-31, 12-12) has secured a spot in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship but awaits the conclusion of Saturday's league slate to find out seeding and opponent.
Saint Louis (25-29, 15-9 A-10) built an 8-0 lead with a pair of four-run innings in the first and third, before the Colonials mounted a comeback in the later innings.
Trailing 8-0 in the sixth, the Colonials got on the board when senior Matthieu Robert led off with a double down the left field line, moved to third on a ground ball and scored on a throwing error. GW scored again on an error in the eighth inning to make the score 8-2.
Junior Ty Kobylinski led off the ninth inning with a single to right field and moved to third on a double by freshman Camillo Spinoso. Robert was then hit by a pitch to load the bases and then senior Andy Young connected on a RBI single to make the score 8-3.
Later in the inning, sophomore Matt Cosentino roped a two-run double down the left field line to pull the Colonials within three runs of the lead at 8-5, but Saint Louis escaped the jam with the tying run at the plate to end the game.
Young finished 2-for-3 at the plate for the second multiple-hit game of his career in his final regular-season contest. Cosentino (2-for-2, double, two RBIs) also finished with multiple hits for the Colonials.
Senior Luke Olson (3.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 K), freshman Justin Friedman (1.0 IP, 0 ER, 1 K) and junior Eddie Muhl (1.0 IP, 0 ER) provided five scoreless innings of relief out of the bullpen.
