GW Baseball Visits Towson on Tuesday

WASHINGTON - The George Washington baseball team will open a home-and-home series against Towson on Tuesday afternoon at Schuerholz Park in Towson, Maryland. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
GW (23-12) defeated Fordham, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Tucker Field to earn its 10th Atlantic 10 win of the season. Despite losing two-of-three games to the Rams, the Colonials are 13-4 in their past 17 games.
Four GW starters are batting above .300 through the first 35 games of the season. Sophomore Joey Bartosic continues to lead the team in average (.331), on-base percentage (.389), runs (27), hits (47) and stolen bases (15).
Sophomore Bobby Campbell ranks second on the team with a .326 batting average in addition to five doubles and 20 RBIs.
Sophomore Andrew Selby is batting .310, which is third on the team. He ranks second in the A-10 and fifth in NCAA Division I with five triples. Selby also leads GW with 18 extra-base hits, 21 RBIs and seven multiple-RBI games.
Sophomore Eli Kashi ranks fourth with a .302 batting average and has totaled 15 RBIs and 14 runs.
Sophomore Eddie Muhl earned the save on Sunday to bring his NCAA-leading total to 14. He now has 15 career saves and needs just three to become GW's career leader. Muhl has posted a 0.47 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 19.1 innings this season.
GW's pitching staff ranks second overall in the Atlantic 10 with a team ERA of 3.26. Freshman Brady Renner, the Colonials' projected starter on Tuesday, is 2-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 15.2 innings this season.
Towson is 11-25-2 overall this season after Sunday's 14-4 win over Elon at Schuerholz Park. The Tigers are batting .291 as a team but have a staff ERA of 6.70. Tuesday's projected starter, Austin Clark, is 0-4 with a 7.13 ERA in 10 games this season.
Towson beat GW, 5-3, last season at Tucker Field. The second game of the home-and-home series was cancelled due to inclement weather and was not made up. The Colonials lead the all-time series, 32-8-2.
