ORLANDO, Fla. - The George Washington men's tennis team defeated Florida A&M University, 7-1, at the Fort Gatlin Recreation Center in Orlando on Monday.
The Colonials (5-8) grabbed the early doubles point, winning all three matches over the Rattlers.
In singles action, GW took six of seven bouts, all in straight sets. Senior Francisco Dias improved to 6-5 on the season with his second-flight 6-2, 6-2 triumph, while top-singles player junior Danil Zelenkov moved to 6-6 on the spring. Freshman Chris Fletcher has now won five of his last six matches at the No. 3 position.
The Colonials' match against the University of Central Florida, originally scheduled for Thursday, has been canceled. The Buff and Blue will next face Atlantic 10 rival Davidson when both GW's men's and women's teams head to North Carolina on Saturday.
