WICHITA, Kan.- George Washington's No. 61 men's tennis team fell to the University of Texas-San Antonio, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at Wichita State's Genesis Health Club. The Colonials will look to bounce back Sunday morning when they take on the Shockers at 11 a.m.
The Colonials (1-4) were unable to convert the early doubles point, dropping matches in the Nos. 2 and 3 slots to give UTSA (2-3) the edge.
In singles action, freshman Chris Reynolds put the Buff and Blue on the board with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 victory in the No. 5 position. Senior Francisco Dias, the nation's 109th-ranked singles player, defeated UTSA's Yannick Junger in a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-2) battle in second-flight play to notch GW's second and final point of the day. Junior Danil Zelenkov, the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, played his first match of the spring in the top slot but could not overcome No. 42 Tomas Stillman.
