GW Men's Tennis Defeats Monmouth to Finish Weekend

SUDBURY, Mass. - The No. 61-ranked GW men's tennis team defeated Monmouth University, 4-2, in the consolation round of the ECAC Indoor Championships on Saturday.
The Colonials (2-6) dropped the early doubles point after losses in the Nos. 1 and 3 positions, before staging a comeback in singles action to take the match.
Junior Danil Zelenkov and senior Francisco Dias defeated their opponents in first- and second-flight action, respectively, in straight sets to give GW a lead they would not relinquish. Freshman Chris Fletcher took the Hawks' Ale Gomez the distance before snagging a victory in the No. 3 slot, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2. Classmate Chris Reynolds downed his fifth-position opponent, 6-4, 6-3, to clinch the match.
The Buff and Blue will return to action on Feb. 21 as they travel to Atlanta, Georgia to take on Georgia Sate and Stetson in a weekend of competition.
