Men's Tennis Fall 4-3 to Quakers

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The George Washington men's tennis team fought in a close match against Penn Friday afternoon, at the Levy Tennis Pavilion. The Colonials fell to Quakers, 4-3, dropping to 1-3 on the season.
GW fell behind after dropping the doubles point to Penn. Colonials duo Christopher Kushma and Alexander van Gils won at No. 2 doubles over Ivan Turudic and Phil Law, 8-5, to avoid being swept.
Penn moved to 2-0, after Ugur Atalay fell at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-0 to Hicham Laalej. Kushma earned the first team point when he defeated Jason Lin at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
Van Gils fell to Law, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 3 match, while Viktor Svensson defeated Jason Magnes 7-6, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Freshman Ulrik Thomsen defeated Nikola Kocovic in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, but not before Yan Levinski fell in his own three-set match, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2, to Turudic for the Quakers to clinch the win.
GW continues weekend play on the road, taking on Atlantic 10 Conference opponent Temple on Saturday at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center in Philadelphia.
