Pat Lehman Throws One-Hit Gem in Shutout Victory

ARLINGTON, VA - The George Washington baseball team almost witnessed history by senior Pat Lehman, but a 2-out 9th inning bloop into centerfield made the ace settle for a 9-0, one-hit shutout win, Sunday afternoon at Barcroft Park.
Lehman also struck out 13 and never let the Knights feel comfortable at the plate. The only two runners to reach against Lehman were by error as he also walked no batters. Lehman lowered his ERA to 0.86 on the year and has 25 strikeouts in 21 innings, while walking just one batter.
The game was close until the Colonials erupted for a seven-run fifth inning that saw 12 batters reach the plate. Tom Zebroski and Andrew Haberern had two-RBI singles in the inning, which resulted in the big blows to the Knights. Zebroski also hit a leadoff homerun in the game, which was the first for the Colonials on the season.
Brendon Kelliher also hit a home run for the Colonials, his third on the season in the victory, which evened up their record at 6-6 at the time.
In the second game in the afternoon, the Colonials dropped a 13-5 decision when they allowed eight seventh-inning runs to the Knights after keeping their bats at bay for 24 straight innings beforehand.
The Colonials will return to the field against William & Mary on Tuesday, March 10th at Barcroft Park and will travel to Mt. St. Mary's the following day. Both games are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EST.
