Colonials Fall 15-3 Against District Rival Georgetown

BETHESDA, MD - The George Washington University baseball team hit the road for just the second time this month, but was unable to secure a victory in their 15-3 loss to Georgetown on Wednesday afternoon. The Colonials started the scoring with three first inning runs, but allowed 15 unanswered runs in the losing effort.
The first inning scoring for the Colonials was actually done without recording a hit as they lead off the game with two hit batters and two walks. Senior Tim Reeves had a walk which drove in a run and sophomore Brendon Kelliher hit into an RBI ground to second base. Designated hitter Curtis Eward then hit a sacrifice for the Colonials to push their lead to 3-0.
Junior Bobby Lucas got the start for George Washington and pitched three innings and allowed two runs. The left hander from Baltimore, MD also walked three and struck out three Hoya batters.
Freshman Michael Boyden also made an appearance out of the bullpen and threw 1.1 innings of shutout baseball to finish the game. Junior Tom Zebroski also led the offense with a hit and a walk on the afternoon.
The Colonials will return to the field this weekend when they begin A-10 conference play and host the Rhode Island Rams. The Friday game is set to begin at 3:00 p.m. and the Saturday contest is set for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch. The series finale on Sunday is set for a 12:00 p.m. start.
