Men's Tennis Wins Twice

WASHINGTON, DC - The Colonials men's tennis team won a pair of matches over the weekend with a 5-2 victory over James Madison Saturday and a 6-1 triumph over Temple Sunday. The Temple match was GW's first at the school's new Mount Vernon Tennis Facility.
Sophomore Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Gaud School) and freshman Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) won both of their singles matches at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively.
Freshman Mike Melen (Pittsburgh, PA/ ) also won his match at No. 5 singles against James Madison's Colin Malcolm after dropping the second set, 0-6. Sophomore Brett Warner (Vienna, VA/James Madison) defeated Temple's Wynne Tyler at No. 6 with an 11-9 tie breaker after dropping the second set 6-7.
The Colonials voted Hane as the team's Player of the Day against JMU and senior Kevin Wright (Seminole, FL/Thomas Howard Academy) as the Player of the Day against Temple.
Next up for the Colonials is a Friday, Feb. 8 match against the Richmond Spiders at Mount Vernon Tennis Facility beginning at noon.
