Men's Tennis Dominates Temple, 6-1

PHILADELPHIA, PA (Oct. 5) - The new-look Colonials men's tennis squad served notice Friday that they are a force to be reckoned within the Atlantic 10 Conference. GW opened their fall dual match schedule by winning five of six singles matches and sweeping three doubles matches from Temple Friday in Philadelphia.
Sophomores Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Gaud School), Brett Warner (Vienna, VA/James Madison) and freshman Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) easily controlled their opponents losing just one game each in two sets. Sophomore Mike Melen (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) also breezed, 6-2,6-0.
Freshman Jake Jopling (Wexford, PA/N. Allegheny) had the most trouble of the victorious Colonials winning 6-1,6-7(4),6-3. Senior Kevin Wright lost the No. 2 singles match but paired with Treadgold to win at No. 2 doubles.
Next up for the Colonials is a 1:00 p.m. dual against Georgetown on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Georgetown's Courts.
