WASHINGTON, DC (Oct. 18) - The Colonials men's tennis continued its impressive fall run with a 5-2 victory over Georgetown Wednesday afternoon at Georgetown. GW dispatched the Hoyas by winning four of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.
Sophomores Matt Hane (Walterboro, SC/Porter-Gaud School), Brett Warner (Vienna, VA/James Madison) battled back after dropping their first sets to win the second and third sets easily. Freshman Matt Treadgold (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central) also needed three sets to win at NO. 4 singles while freshman Jake Jopling (Wexford, PA/N. Allegheny) won in straight sets. Jopling was named the team's Player of the Day after winning 6-4,6-1 at No. 3 singles and combining with Hane to capture the No. 1 doubles match, 8-6.
SeniorKevin Wright (Seminole, FL/Thomas Howard Academy) lost the No. 2 singles match but paired with Treadgold to win at No. 2 doubles.
Next up for the Colonials is the Rolex-Northern Region tournament, Oct. 25-28, at Princeton.
