Late Homer Lifts Bonnies Past Baseball
4/4/2026 8:32:00 PM | Baseball
A late three-run home run lifted St. Bonaventure past the George Washington baseball team on Saturday afternoon, giving the host Bonnies a series win over the Revolutionaries. The loss drops GW to 11-19 on the year and 5-7 in A-10 action.
After GW's first three hitters reached to load the bases in the first, Robbie Lavey drove in the game's first two runs on an RBI single to center field. The promising start on offense was short-lived, however, as GW failed to record another run until the sixth inning.
The Bonnies cut GW's lead in half in the third as Alex Herbenstreit hit a solo home run to left field.
Connor Jones put the GW Revs back ahead by two in the sixth, using a sacrifice fly to center field to score Charlie Walsh from third.
GW starter Declan Wywoda allowed his second run of the day in the sixth but kept the lead intact and ended his outing with a solid 6.0 innings pitched, three strikeouts and just one earned run.
After Gavin Miller gave the Buff & Blue a scoreless inning of relief in the seventh, a St. Bonaventure three-run homer put the hosts ahead for good. All three runs on the long ball were unearned, as the batter prior reached on a fielding error, in what would have been the third out of the inning.
The loss was charged to Colin Lebel, who tossed 0.2 innings in relief, while the win is credited to SBU's Tristan Ciampa, moving him to 3-0 this season.
GW now turns its attention to VMI on Tuesday, traveling to Lexington, Va., to battle the Keydets at 5:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
