FERREL'S OPENING WEEKEND
GW first-year infield Reese Ferrel made the most of her opportunities in her first collegiate action, leading GW in multiple offensive categories through four games. Ferrel went 5-10 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs in her first four games with the Revolutionaries, and she owns the team's top slugging percentage at .700.Â
HAYWARD HAS IT GOING
While GW center fielder Paige Hayward is known to Revolutionary fans for her star defensive play, having committed only two errors in 190+ career chances, the former A-10 All-Rookie team member reminded fans that she can be one of GW's top producers at the plate as well. Hayward has registered four hits in nine official at bats in 2026 – which includes two doubles – and she added five walks on opening weekend for a team-leading on-base percentage of .643.
GW SOFTBALL ALUMNA ELANA MEYERS TAYLOR MAKES HISTORY
GW softball's first-ever recruit turned legendary U.S. Bobsleigh athlete Elana Meyers Taylor has already made history at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics by winning her first-career gold medal and tying Bonnie Blair's record for the most total medals ever won by an American female Winter Olympian. Meyers Taylor will attempt to break Blair's record to become the stand-alone most decorated American female Winter Olympian in history on Feb. 20-21 when she competes in the two-woman event.Â
