Softball Adds Abbie Frisvold via Transfer Portal

Abbie Frisvold batting as a freshman at UMBC

GW softball announced the addition of catcher/utility Abbie Frisvold to the 2027 roster, joining GW as a sophomore after spending her freshman season at UMBC.

"We are excited to add Abbie to our GW Revs family," said Head Coach Matt Klampert. "She brings versatility to our lineup as a catcher who can play multiple positions. Abbie will add to our already strong program not only as an athlete, but also within our team culture."

Frisvold started 16 of 18 games in the Retrievers' shortened 2026 season, batting a commendable .313 with 5 RBI, and leading the team with 13 runs scored. She collected hits in 11 of her 16 appearances and was 5-5 in stolen base attempts. Behind the plate, Frisvold also caught five runners attempting to steal.

Prior to college, Frisvold was named to both the Washington Post First Team All-Met and the Baltimore Sun First Team All-Met.
