The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its All-Region awards on Thursday, naming GW's Cece Smith to the East All-Region First Team at pitcher/utility and Ashley Corpuz to the East All-Region Third Team at outfield.
Smith is the first Revolutionary named to an All-Region First Team since Sierra Lange in 2022. After entering the season as an established pitcher, Smith was dubbed the east region's top two-way player after her first season receiving offensive opportunities. Named to the Atlantic 10's All-Conference First Team as a pitcher and Second Team as a utility, the junior from Atlanta pitched a career-high 132.2 innings with a career-best 2.32 ERA, while batting .359 with 24 RBI and an 1.007 OPS. Smith earned her first career NFCA All-Region recognition as GW's first First-Team representative since the NFCA reorganized regions in 2025, which moved GW from the Mid-Atlantic to the East.
Corpuz, the Atlantic 10's Player of the Year and an All-Conference First Team outfielder, was named to her second career NFCA All-Region team after being named to the East All-Region Second Team a year ago. Corpuz was undoubtedly the top power bat in the A-10, as she ranked first in the conference in OPS (1.304), home runs (13) and slugging (.758), while finishing second in the league in runs scored (44) and OBP (.546), and third in walks (45). The senior from Ladera Ranch, Calif., drew walks at a historic rate in her senior season, earning both GW's career (150) and single-season (46) walk records in her senior year, as she became the first Revolutionary in program history to reach 150+ walks and 150+ hits in their career.
Both Smith and Corpuz are now eligible for NFCA All-America consideration. The three NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced on May 27, the day prior to the start of the Women's College World Series.
