Revolutionaries lock up six seed in doubleheader split at Bonnies

GW softball earned a split in Saturday's doubleheader at St. Bonaventure, falling in game one, 3-2, before picking up a win in the regular-season finale, 6-3. The Revolutionaries have now officially clinched a spot in the postseason as they sit 2.5 games clear of the seventh-place team, George Mason, with just one game remaining for the Patriots.

St. Bonaventure got the better of GW in game one in a game where all of GW's offense came on one hit. Emi Todoroki sent a two-run double to left field in the fourth, delivering GW's only two runs and giving her team a 2-1 lead. St. Bonaventure eventually tied the game on a bunt single in the fifth, before scoring the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the sixth.

Chloe Greene made one of her better starts of the season in game one, throwing 4.0 innings and giving up one run on just two hits, and striking out four Bonnies along the way.

Game two was a completely different script for the visitors, as after only six hits in game one, the Revolutionaries rattled off a season-high 16 hits in game two, helping them to down St. Bonaventure, 6-3.

Seven Revolutionaries had mutli-hit games. Led by Ashely Corpuz's three hits, Sydney Hogue, Cece Smith, Emma Fales, Todoroki, Cadence Gilliland and Daniella Lew each also added a pair of hits.

Both teams had it going early, as GW scored twice in the first and once in the third, but was matched in both innings by the home side. GW retook the lead at 4-3 in the fourth, extending it to 6-3 by the fifth, which was a comfortable edge to play behind with the efficient arm of Smith in the circle.

Smith earned her second win of the weekend and 11th of the season as she threw a complete game, striking out seven as she was tagged with only one earned run and three hits against.

GW now awaits the completion of Atlantic 10 play tomorrow to find out seeding and game time for this week's Atlantic 10 Championship, May 6-9 in St. Louis.
