Sierra Lange, one of the most decorated softball student-athletes in GW history, returned to her alma mater in an assistant coach capicy in the late summer of 2025 after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Yale. In her playing career for the Buff & Blue, Lange was a two-way sensation, setting numerous GW batting and pitching records, and becoming just the second Buff & Blue softball All-American in program history.
Lange spent six years in the Buff & Blue, but missed the 2020 shortened COVID year due to injury. During her career, she was twice named the A-10 Pitcher of the Year (2021, 2022), was placed on the A-10 All-Conference First Team three times (2019, 2021, 2022), and was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team as a first-year (2018).
Lange owns nearly every GW career pitching record, including wins (94), strikeouts (785), and shutouts (18). Lange has the second most hits in program history (241), which includes a single-season best of 85 hits in 2019. Lange posted a career 2.54 ERA, and offensively, she hit for a career .377 mark with a 1.016 OPS.
In her two seasons as an assistant coach at Yale, Lange helped produce seven All-Ivy selections, which included a pair of First Team selections in 2021.
