WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's basketball team shifts its focus to Saint Joseph's for a midweek Kids Day clash on Hawk Hill. Tip-off is set for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, with live coverage carried on ESPN+.
LEWIS AND REYNOLDS COMBINE FOR 47
Last Saturday at Davidson, Sara Lewis (25 points) and Gabby Reynolds (22 points) combined for 47 of GW's 58 total points. The duo's combined output was the most by two GW players in a single game this season and marked a new career high for Lewis, topping her previous mark of 22. The duo also landed in GW's record books as the first pair of teammates to score 20+ points in the same game since 2017, when Lexi Martins (22 points) and Caira Washington (21 points) combined for 43 points at La Salle.
Reynolds and Lewis have been GW's top two scorers this season, with Reynolds leading the program at 13.8 ppg. She's tallied 15 or more points on 12 different occasions, including in seven of eight games from Nov. 23 to Dec. 21. Reynolds is 12th in the conference in scoring this season and has cemented herself as an all-conference player in just her sophomore season.
Lewis is second on the team at 11.4 ppg, posting double-figure scoring outputs in 13 games thus far. Lewis' do-it-all play style doesn't always produce flashy box scores, but her ability to impact winning on both ends of the floor makes her a top-level talent in the Atlantic 10. Along with her scoring numbers, Lewis leads the team in rebounding at 5.6 rpg, while also shooting the ball at an efficient 46.5% from the floor.
THEODORSSON INCHES CLOSER TO MILESTONE
Against the Wildcats on Saturday, Emma Theodorsson pulled down six rebounds, inching her closer to a career milestone of 500. She enters Wednesday's matinee matchup at 488, needing just 12 more to hit the mark. Theodorsson joined GW after one season at Loyola Chicago. Prior to her time with the Ramblers, she spent her first two collegiate seasons at Bucknell. One of three four-year seniors on GW's roster, Theodorsson has tallied 1,061 career points to date and averages 9.6 ppg over her 111 career games played.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Saint Joseph's enters the week holding a 15-8 overall record and a 6-6 mark in conference play following a narrow 75-73 loss to Dayton on Saturday. Led by longtime Head Coach Cindy Griffin, the Hawks have conference wins over Davidson, Duquesne, Fordham, VCU and two over La Salle. Griffin is in her 25th year at the helm of the program, amassing a 437-329 record on Hawk Hill. She holds 485 career wins, including her three-year stint as bench boss with Loyola (Md.) from 1998-01.
SJU is paced by junior guard Gabby Casey, who's fourth in the A-10 in scoring at 16.7 ppg. Casey shoots the ball at a 47.1% clip from the floor while also pulling down a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game. Aleah Snead averages 11.0 ppg for the Hawks, while Rhian Stokes chips in 10.0 ppg.
