The George Washington women's basketball team is set to face Arizona and UAB as part of the Jacksonville Classic, hosted in Jacksonville, Fla., from November 23-25. Dates and times for the matchups are still TBA.
"The Jacksonville Classic, one of the nation's premier early-season college basketball tournaments, is set to launch its inaugural women's event at Florida State College in Jacksonville this November," said a release from the Jacksonville Classic on Tuesday. "This year's event will feature a dynamic field of nine Division I programs, bringing high-level competition and national attention to Jacksonville. The field consists of multiple top-25, nationally-ranked teams, as well as postseason participants from 2026."
Included in the field along with GW, Arizona and UAB are Middle Tennessee State, Montana State, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Virginia and Vanderbilt. Each team will play two games, spread out across a three-day span. All games will be hosted at "The Reef," home of the FSCJ Mantarays.
GW will match up with Arizona for the second time in program history, with the first, a 69-65 win for the Buff & Blue, coming in 2006. The Wildcats represent the third "Power Four" conference opponent for GW this season, with previously announced matchups against West Virginia (Nov. 5) and Northwestern (Dec. 18) already on the docket. The Buff & Blue will also meet UAB for the second time in program history, with the first coming in 1994, a 74-66 win for GW in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Tournament passes are on sale now and can be purchased here. Single-game tickets, along with the full schedule and game times, will be announced in the coming weeks.
