KINGSTON, R.I. – The George Washington women's basketball team dropped its final matchup of the regular season, falling to Rhode Island, 72-48. GW moves to 15-16 overall and 7-11 in Atlantic 10 action.
Rhode Island used a 15-4 run to open the game and never looked back, holding a double-digit lead for 32 minutes of action. Rhody's early momentum was aided by hot shooting from the floor, going 75% from the field in the first 10 minutes. URI carried that momentum into the second, extending its advantage to as many as 20 before settling for a 40-25 lead at the halftime break.
GW clawed back to get URI's lead down to 12 on multiple occasions in the third quarter, but couldn't draw closer. With the win, Rhode Island secured the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title, the program's second under Head Coach Tami Reiss.
Gabby Reynolds led GW with a team-high 17 points, her 11th double-digit scoring output in a row. Reynolds finishes the regular season 11th in scoring in the conference, making a strong case for an all-conference selection next week.
GW now awaits the official bracket for the 2026 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship to determine its opponent next week in Henrico, Va. Follow GWsports.com and the team's official accounts on Instagram, X and Facebook for the latest postseason information.
