Women's Basketball Superb in Super Sixteen WNIT Win
3/27/2026 8:29:00 PM | Women's Basketball
In record-setting fashion for the historic George Washington women's basketball program, Coach G and company advanced to the Great Eight of the WNIT for the first time in its storied history. The 71-62 home win against Loyola Chicago made Head Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan the first coach in the team's history to win three postseason games in their first year at the helm of the program.
Sparking the Revolutionaries to its 18th victory of the season - five more than they saw a season ago - were the dynamic duo of junior Sara Lewis and sophomore Gabby Reynolds, who in their third- and second years at GW, respectively, are seeing the fruits of their labor finally pay off in March.
Lewis flirted with a triple-double in perhaps the most complete game of her career, leading all players on both teams in points, rebounds and assists with a 25-13-8 line, while contributing three steals on the defensive end in her "fear nobody, but respect everybody" manner of play. Outscored but not outshined by her dynamic teammate, Reynolds, the A-10 All-Conference honoree, sunk 5-of-6 three-pointers in her 20-point night, engaging Lewis in a friendly and fun game of anything-you-can-do-I-can-do-better, to the delight of the Smith Center faithful.
Bidding for a Fab 4 bid to the WNIT, where the team has never been, GW will face the winner of Friday's game between Illinois State and Abilene Christian, with date, time and location to be announced.
