GW baseball alum Harrison Cohen '22 has been named to Team Israel's roster for the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
Â
Cohen, who's coming off his best season as a pro, clocked in as the New York Yankees' No. 18 prospect according to Baseball America heading into the 2026 MLB season. A year ago in 2025, Cohen registered a 1.76 combined ERA across stints with Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He logged a 1.57 ERA with the RailRiders, finishing 2-0 on the mound, and holding opposing hitters to a .146 batting average.
Â
Cohen has quickly climbed up the ranks within the Yankees' organization, starting in low-A in 2023 and rising to double-A in the same season. After his stint in triple-A last year, Cohen now has a big-league ETA of 2026, according to MLB.com.
Â
Team Israel will be part of Pool D, playing their games at LoanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins. Pool D also includes the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands, Nicaragua and Venezuela. Team Israel's first exhibition contest is slated for March 3, as they face the Marlins' spring training team in Jupiter, Fla. Israel will also play the New York Mets on March 4 in exhibition action before WBC games start on the 6th.
