Women's Basketball Secures Win vs. Fordham, 58-47
1/24/2026 8:32:00 PM | Women's Basketball
WASHINGTON - In a game moved up a day with a winter storm on the horizon, and playing absent Sara Lewis for the first time this season, GW women's basketball ignored the conditions and controlled the action for the final three quarters in a 58-47 win at the Smith Center in downtown DC.
Without Lewis in the lineup, GW's second-leading scorer on the season, the Revolutionaries needed a scoring punch from up and down the lineup and found its punch from a variety of sources. While Gabby Reynolds led the way with 14 points, Caia Loving, in her first collegiate start, responded with a half-dozen points in the complete team win.
Kentucky transfer Tanah Becker brought what she's contributed to George Washington all season long - all the factors that contribute to winning - on and off the boxscore. With eight points, a game-high seven rebounds, a game-high tying three steals (with Reynolds), an assist, a block and two freebies, all while turning it over just once, Becker played her high-IQ game throughout 29 minutes of action.
While outrebounded by the Rams without Lewis, the Revolutionaries' leading rebounder, 5'4" point guard Mia James stepped up in a big way with a career-high six rebounds for the frosh, who also dished a game-high four dimes.
GW won every quarter (12-8, 16-14, 12-11, 18-14) and forced 19 Rams' miscues, in a defensive effort that held the guests under 33% shooting.
The Revolutionaries line up next against Saint Louis and its 5-3 mark in league play on Wednesday at home at 6 p.m. on ESPN+ and Monumental Network.
