WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's basketball team returns to the Smith Center this weekend, welcoming Fordham to the DMV on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Live coverage of the matchup is available on ESPN+.
INCLEMENT WEATHER MOVES GAME UP
Due to the impending winter weather across the East Coast this weekend, GW's matchup with Fordham was moved up to Saturday at 6:00 p.m. from its original timeslot of Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
In conjunction with the GW men's basketball game on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. vs. Richmond, the games will become a traditional doubleheader, with one ticket valid for both matchups. Fans who purchased tickets to Sunday's originally scheduled women's game will also receive a complimentary ticket to Saturday's men's game in their Ticketmaster account. Patrons will still be required to sit in their assigned seat for the men's game, but seating will move to a general admission format for the women's contest.
TRIO LEADS GW AT VCU
The trio of Sara Lewis, Kamari Sims and Gabby Reynolds combined for 53 of GW's 60 points on Wednesday at VCU. Despite the loss, the Revolutionaries outscored VCU, 45-25, in the second half, using key halftime adjustments to flip the script.
Lewis led the way with a team-high 20 points, her fifth consecutive game in double figures. She's averaging 15.6 ppg over that span, while also grabbing a team-best 7.6 boards over the stretch. Sims poured in a career-high 17 points at VCU, all coming in the second half. She connected on three triples and also tallied two blocks. Reynolds rounded out GW's double-figure scorers, notching 16 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Fordham enters the weekend 9-10 overall and 1-7 in conference play. The Rams earned a 66-53 win over St. Bonaventure on Jan. 18, snapping a six-game skid to open A-10 action. Fordham followed it up with a narrow 67-57 loss in overtime to Saint Louis on Wednesday afternoon for the team's annual School Day.
Bridgette Mitchell is in her third season as head coach of the Rams, holding a 36-42 record since taking over the program prior to the 2023-24 season. Offensively, Fordham is led by Alexis Black, who's averaging 19.4 ppg. She's missed Fordham's previous five games, having been out since Jan. 3 vs. Saint Joseph's. Ugne Sirtautaite is registering 7.9 ppg, while Ornelia Niankan is averaging 7.3 points and 5.3 rebounds a night. Fordham's full 2025-26 stats can be found here.
