WASHINGTON – Following a 69-59 win over Fordham on Tuesday night, the George Washington women's basketball team looks to make it two in a row on Saturday when it travels to St. Bonaventure. Tip-off in Olean, N.Y., is set for 1:00 p.m. with live coverage available on ESPN+.
HISTORIC SUCCESS AGAINST THE BONNIES
Entering Saturday's matchup, the Revolutionaries hold a commanding 43-9 lead over St. Bonaventure in the all-time series. This weekend will mark the 53rd meeting between the two opponents, the fifth-most games played against a single opponent in GW program history. The two schools first squared off in January of 1987, the first season St. Bonaventure competed in varsity women's basketball. After winning the first five games of the all-time series, the Bonnies beat GW for the first time in February of 1989. What followed that loss was 20 years of dominance over the Bonnies, spanning 26 games and over three different decades, the longest winning streak against a single opponent in program history. Included in that historic winning streak was another program record, a 116-point performance in a 1995 win, the most offense GW has produced in a single game in program history. In recent years, the Revolutionaries have maintained success over the A-10 foe, winning six of the last seven meetings, including five-straight since 2022.
REYNOLDS SHINES IN WIN
First-year Gabby Reynolds reminded everyone in the Charles E. Smith Center on Tuesday night why she was the 2024 Michigan Miss Basketball winner, posting a team-high 18 points and eight boards, leading the Revolutionaries to a 69-59 win over Fordham. Since re-entering the starting lineup on January 15, Reynolds has averaged 11.2 ppg, leading the team in that span of games. She's gotten into double figures nine times this season and has upped her shooting percentage to 35.8% from the floor and 31.0% from long range. As the regular season begins to wind down, Reynolds and the Revolutionaries will look to harness this momentum heading into the Atlantic 10 Championship.
SCOUTING THE BONNIES
Led by Head Coach Jim Crowley, who's in his second stint with St. Bonaventure, the Bonnies enter Saturday's matchup 5-18 overall and 1-11 in conference action. After beating Saint Louis, 68-66, on January 8, St. Bonaventure has lost eight-straight games, most recently on Wednesday night at Massachusetts. The win at SLU is St. Bonaventure's only victory since December 17, with the Bonnies losing 12 of their last 13 games.
Dani Haskell leads the Bonnies' offense, averaging 13.7 ppg on 38.1% shooting from the floor. Haskell is one of just three players who has appeared in all 23 games for the St. Bonaventure this season, as she's averaging 31.1 minutes a night. Zoe Shaw is also in double figures in minutes per game, averaging 11.0 ppg, while Isabellah Middleton scores 10.3 ppg and grabs 4.6 boards a game, which is second on the team. Caitlin Frost leads the team in rebounding at 5.0 a game while also chipping in 9.0 ppg.
