WASHINGTON – As part of a weekend-long host of events, the George Washington women's basketball team celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Charles E. Smith Center on Saturday, hosting Brown for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off in Foggy Bottom. Live coverage of the contest will be available on ESPN+.
SMITH 50 CELEBRATIONS BEGIN
Friday's GW Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony marks the start of a weekend-long celebration in Foggy Bottom. Saturday begins the official 50th anniversary celebration of the building that has been the heartbeat for GW Athletics and a hub for unforgettable moments in Foggy Bottom. The celebration kicks off at 1:00 p.m. when women's basketball hosts Brown, with members of GW's first women's basketball team in attendance to be honored during the action. Following the conclusion, GW will host an all-alumni event, welcoming former athletes of all GW sports, including those that are no longer sponsored, to reconnect over food and drinks. The night concludes at 6:00 p.m., when GW men's basketball hosts William & Mary, the same opponent the Buff & Blue secured its first Division I win over 50 years ago in 1975-76. In a nod to that historic moment, bringing together the past and present in a special tribute. Tickets and more information for this historic weekend can be found here.
ADAIR SET TO ENTER HALL OF FAME
This Friday, Jessica Adair is set to become the 19th women's basketball player in GW history to be inducted into the GW Athletics Hall of Fame. In a career that spanned from 2005-09, Adair was selected to three Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Teams. Her time with the Buff & Blue saw her stand among the all-time program leaders in points (12th), rebounds (11th), blocks (sixth) and free throws made (4th).
Most importantly, Adair helped lead George Washington to three Atlantic 10 regular season championships and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament in both her sophomore and junior seasons. One of only eight women in program history who rank in the top 15 in both points and rebounds, she later became GW's first WNBA Champion with the Minnesota Lynx in 2011. Tickets and more information on the induction ceremony can be found here.
GW SECURES FIRST A-10 WIN
The Revolutionaries secured their first Atlantic 10 win of the season on Wednesday night, bouncing Dayton, 54-42. The victory moves GW to 4-5 on the season and gives Head Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan her first conference victory after taking over the program in late March. Gabby Reynolds led the way with 19 points and seven rebounds, the fourth consecutive contest of her scoring 18+ points and leading GW in scoring. Sara Lewis was also stellar in the matchup, adding 12 points and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. The conference calendar continues later this month when GW travels to St. Bonaventure on New Year's Eve.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Coming off a 74-46 victory over Stonehill on Wednesday night, Brown enters the weekend 6-3 overall. After suffering two consecutive defeats to open the season, the Bears have rattled off six wins in their last seven contests, with the only loss coming against Lehigh last Sunday. Brown is led by Head Coach Monique LeBlanc, who is in her fifth season with the program. She previously spent nine years at Merrimack and has amassed a 180-185 career record.
GW leads the all-time series against Brown, 1-0, after the two programs met for the first time in 2008. To date, it's the most dominant win in GW history, with the Buff & Blue cruising to a 98-22 win. The outburst set a program record for largest margin of victory, and the team also set a program record for combined field goal percentage at 66.7% (36-54 from the floor). Antelia Parrish went a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor that day, all of which were three-point attempts, the second-most attempts from long range without a miss in program history, and the fourth-most field goal attempts in a game without a miss in GW history as well.
Offensively, Brown is paced by Grace Anolie, who's averaging 17.0 points a night on 41.7% shooting from the floor. Arnolie is also grabbing 4.3 rebounds per contest and dishing out a team-best 4.0 assists per game. Alyssa Moreland is putting in 13.8 points a contest for the Bears, second most on the team, while also leading the program in rebounding at 9.9 a contest. Brown's full 2025-26 stats can be found here.
