WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's basketball team puts its seven-game winning streak on the line Wednesday, traveling to St. Bonaventure to open the traditional Atlantic 10 slate. The Buff & Blue enter the matchup 9-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play after an early-December A-10 win over Dayton.
BUFF & BLUE CONTINUE WINNING WAYS
Sunday's victory over Coppin State marked the seventh-consecutive win for GW under the leadership of first-year Head Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan. After starting the season 2-5, the Revolutionaries have rattled off seven-consecutive wins, beating teams by an average of 12.6 points over the stretch.
Sunday's win also equaled the longest winning streak GW has enjoyed since the 2016-17 season, GW's last season winning the Atlantic 10 regular season title. With a win on Wednesday at St. Bonaventure, the Buff & Blue will win their eighth in a row for the first time since 2015-16, having won 14-consecutive over a nine-week span that season. GW won both the A-10 regular season and tournament championship in 2015-16, ending their year with a 26-7 record and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
THEODORSSON EYES MILESTONE
Following her 15-point performance against Coppin State, Emma Theodorsson needs just six points to reach the 1,000-point milestone for her career. The 6-1 guard from Pittsburgh, Pa., joined GW prior to the 2025-26 season after spending one year at Loyola Chicago. Theodorsson began her career at Bucknell, playing two seasons with the Bison from 2022-24.
Theodorsson has appeared in 100 career games to date, making 73 starts in that span. She averages 9.9 career ppg, including 9.2 ppg with the Revolutionaries this year. Theodorsson's best statistical season came in 2023-24, when she led Bucknell, averaging 13.2 ppg, to go along with 5.7 boards per contest.
Theodorsson has been on point offensively as of late, posting 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench in GW's 75-62 win over Northwestern two Sundays ago, then following it up with 15 points against Coppin State. She's scored in double figures seven times this season, including a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double at Longwood on Nov 17.
SCOUTING THE BONNIES
St. Bonaventure enters Wednesday's New Year's Eve clash with an impressive 9-4 record, following a 76-64 loss at Howard on Dec. 20. In a scheduling oddity, GW will meet a well-rested St. Bonaventure team that has played just one game over the past 17 days. The Bonnies enjoyed a 60-57 win over Mercyhurst on Dec. 12, then sat dormant until their Dec. 20th meeting at Howard. The Bonnies also haven't played a home game in over a month, with their last coming on Nov. 22 against UAlbany just before Thanksgiving.
The Bonnies are led by longtime Head Coach Jim Crowley, who's in his 19th season at the head of the program. Crowley, who spent his first three seasons coaching at NCAA Division III Keuka, took over the Bonnies' program prior to the 2000-01 campaign. Over the next 16 years, Crowley led SBU to new heights, including two trips to the NCAA Tournament, four WNIT berths and a run to the Sweet Sixteen in 2012. He was ultimately named the ESPN.com National Coach of the Year in the same season and has won the conference's Coach of the Year Award three times (2009, 2012 and 2014). After departing for seven seasons to coach at Providence, Crowley returned in 2023-24 to Olean, improving on the previous year's win total each season since his homecoming.
On the court, St. Bonaventure is led by Laycee Drake, who's averaging 16.1 ppg this season. Drake is a do-it-all type of player for the Bonnies, who also leads the team in rebounding at 6.5 rpg and is tied for the team lead in assists at 2.2 apg. Aaliyah Parker nets 12.6 ppg, the only other Bonnie to average double figures, while also pulling down 5.7 rpg. Drake and Parker are a dynamic duo who combine for over 42% of St. Bonaventure's points scored this season and nearly 32% of the team's rebounding total. The Bonnies' full 2025-26 season stats can be found here.
