Women’s Basketball Drops Nail-Biter at St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. – A last-second shot from St. Bonaventure's Mackenzie Pettinelli lifted the Bonnies past the George Washington women's basketball team, 54-53, on Wednesday afternoon. The loss snaps GW's seven-game winning streak and drops the team to 9-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play this season.
Gabby Reynolds turned in another strong performance, pouring in a team-high 16 points and grabbing five rebounds. Emma Theodorsson, who eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark in the second quarter, logged 10 points for the Buff & Blue, while Sara Lewis added nine points and six boards.
Neither team was stellar offensively, as GW shot a combined 37.0% from the field, while the Bonnies went 35.2% from the floor. GW's turnover struggles also made a return as the Revolutionaries coughed up the ball 16 times, resulting in 15 points for the home team.
In the new year, GW hits the road again to face La Salle on Saturday. Tip-off in Philadelphia is slated for 1:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
