PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The George Washington women's basketball team fell into an early first-quarter hole and could not recover, falling to La Salle, 66-52, on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops GW to 9-7 overall and 1-2 in the Atlantic 10.
In a game when the Revolutionaries struggled to find consistent offense, first-year Colleen Phiri led the Buff & Blue in scoring with nine points off the bench. Sophomores Jaeda Wilson and Gabby Reynolds both added eight apiece, while Sara Lewis and Payton Dulin chipped in seven each. Lewis led GW on the boards with seven, while junior Kamari Sims dished out a game-high four assists.
GW's recent turnover struggles continued in Philly as the Buff & Blue coughed the ball up 20 times, leading to 25 points for the host Explorers. La Salle also took advantage of tempo, outscoring GW, 10-2, on the fast break.
GW returns to the Smith Center on Wednesday morning, hosting Rhode Island for the team's annual School Day. Tip-off is slated for 11:00 a.m. on ESPN+
