Women’s Basketball Earns Seventh-Straight Win Sunday vs. Coppin State

It's hard to write a better script heading into conference play this week than what George Washington women's basketball has authored since Black Friday.
After a 63-49 win against Coppin State Sunday, GW will take a seven-game winning streak with it when A-10 play resumes Wednesday at St. Bonaventure.
Sara Lewis led the way for the Revolutionaries with 17 points and seven rebounds, as the emerging third-year star from Georgia is bidding to add her name to the list of GW legends whose contributions to the program cleared the way for the team to win its 500th game all-time at the Smith Center today.
Emma Theodorsson contributed 15 points to the cause, but the true story of the game was the GW Revs' defense on one end and free-throw shooting on the other.
Crucial to the two-way performance was Kamari Sims, whose nine points, five rebounds, three assists and four blocks in a team-high 31 minutes helped GW control the action in a game which it never trailed, but didn't pull away until the second half after clinging to a two-point halftime margin (29-27).
Ultimately, the Eagles' .264 fg% and GW's superlative performance from the free throw line (20-of-21, .952) allowed the lead to grow to 10 after the third quarter and as high as 16 in the fourth.
Seven-game streak in hand with its last setback coming on November 29th in overtime against Miami, George Washington aims for a perfect December to close the calendar year at the Bonnies at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
