WASHINGTON – Following a successful trip to the Cayman Islands Classic, the George Washington women's basketball team returns to the Charles E. Smith Center on Wednesday, hosting Dayton for the team's first Atlantic 10 matchup of the season. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m., with live coverage available on the Monumental Sports Network and ESPN+.
REYNOLDS SHINES VS. TOUGH COMPETITION
Last week's trip to the Cayman Islands Classic proved to be exactly what Gabby Reynolds needed to break out in her sophomore season. The 5-9 guard from Holland, Mich., was lights out in GW's two games in the Caribbean, stuffing the stat sheet and leading GW to a win over Charlotte.
In GW's overtime loss to Miami, Reynolds posted a career-high 27 points, going 11-22 from the floor and 4-7 from three-point range. She also dished out a season-best four assists, to go along with three steals and two blocks. Reynolds followed that up with a game-high 18 points in the win over the 49ers, shooting 6-9 from the floor and a perfect 3-3 from deep. She dished out four more assists in the win, while also grabbing four boards and nabbing two steals.
For her efforts, Reynolds was named the Cayman Classic Player of the Game against Charlotte, while also being tabbed a member of the All-Tournament Team as well. Reynolds and the Revolutionaries will look to maintain this momentum as the team returns home this week.
EARLY A-10 MATCHUP
GW once again hosts an early-December A-10 matchup for the second-consecutive year as the league makes it standard for all members this season. Dec. 3 serves as the opening date for conference action, with all 14 teams in action. The Revolutionaries host Dayton, welcoming the Flyers to the Nation's Capital during the heart of GW's non-conference schedule. The rest of league play will resume on New Year's Eve, as GW makes a trip to St. Bonaventure to battle the Bonnies at 1:00 p.m. GW's full schedule can be found here.
ADAIR SET TO ENTER HALL OF FAME
This Friday, Jessica Adair is set to become the 19th women's basketball player in GW history to be inducted into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame. In a career that spanned from 2005-09, Adair was selected to three Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Teams. Her time with the Buff & Blue saw her stand among the all-time program leaders in points (12th), rebounds (11th), blocks (sixth) and free throws made (4th).
Most importantly, Adair helped lead George Washington to three Atlantic 10 regular season championships and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament in both her sophomore and junior seasons. One of only eight women in program history who rank in the top 15 in both points and rebounds, she later became GW's first WNBA Champion with the Minnesota Lynx in 2011. Tickets and more information on the induction ceremony can be found here.
SMITH 50 CELEBRATIONS BEGIN
Friday's Hall of Fame induction ceremony marks the start of a weekend-long celebration in Foggy Bottom. Saturday begins the official 50th anniversary celebration of the building that has been the heartbeat for GW Athletics and a hub for unforgettable moments in Foggy Bottom. The celebration kicks off at 1:00 p.m. when the women's basketball team hosts Brown, with members of GW's first women's basketball team in attendance to be honored during the action. Following the conclusion, GW will host an all-alumni event, welcoming former athletes of all GW sports, including those that are no longer sponsored, to reconnect over food and drinks. The night concludes at 6:00 p.m., when GW men's basketball hosts William & Mary, the same opponent the Buff & Blue secured its first Division I win over 50 years ago in 1975-76. In a nod to that historic moment, members of both 1975-76 teams will be honored, bringing together the past and present in a special tribute. Tickets and more information for this historic weekend can be found here.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton enters the first A-10 contest of the season 4-3 overall, coming off a 1-1 showing at the Fort Myers Tip-Off over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Flyers suffered a 92-66 defeat to Butler to open the MTE, then bounced back in a big way for a 59-58 win over Kansas. Dayton has also collected wins over Mercyhurst, Xavier and Canisius.
Led by fourth-year Head Coach Tamika Williams-Jeter, the Flyers finished last season with an 11-7 A-10 record, good enough for the fifth seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship. Following a first-round bye, Dayton defeated La Salle before falling to Davidson in the quarterfinal round.
This year, Dayton is led by Nayo Lear, who's averaging 16.6 ppg and sits sixth in the conference in scoring. Fatima Ibrahim is second on the squad at 11.0 ppg, while Ajok Madol sits third at 9.0. Ibrahim leads Dayton on the glass, grabbing 8.0 per contest, fourth-best in the conference, while Nicole Stephens is second-best in the A-10, averaging 4.2 assists a night. As a team, Dayton is the most efficient offense in the conference, shooting the ball at a combined 45.8% clip. Dayton's full 2025-26 stats can be found here.
