WASHINGTON - The George Washington University softball team heads up to Kingston, R.I., this weekend for a three-game set at Rhode Island. The Revolutionaries and Rams will play a doubleheader on Saturday (1 p.m. & 3Â p.m.) and a single game on Sunday (12 p.m.), with all of the action carried on ESPN+.Â
REVOLUTIONARY RIVALRY RECAP
GW hosted rival George Mason for a doubleheader at the GW Softball Field on Tuesday and emerged with wins in both contests. The Revolutionaries surged to a 10-2, five-inning victory in game one before needing extra innings in game two but getting the job done, 2-1, after a Cadence Gilliland walk-off double in the eighth sealed the sweep.
Ashley Corpuz headlined GW's attack on Tuesday, finishing the day with two home runs, six RBI, three runs scored, five walks and an .875 OBP. Corpuz drove in runs in all four plate appearances in game one, walking twice with the bases loaded and hitting home runs in back-to-back at-bats. Corpuz also stole a base and recorded putouts on all five chances in left on Tuesday to complete her near-perfect day.
GW's pitching across both games excelled as Sophia Torreso and Cece Smith limited GMU to a .213 avg. and allowed just three runs (two earned) across both contests. Torreso made appearances in the circle in both games, totaling 7.0 innings and picking up both wins as she finished with six strikeouts and just three walks. Smith made the start and pitched six innings in game two, allowing one run (none earned) with five strikeouts and zero walks.

GW senior Alena Ramirez continues to lead the A-10 (among qualified batters) in batting average, sporting a .402 avg. this season. The Buff & Blue infielder has started 37 games this year and has 45 hits in 112 at-bats, which includes nine doubles and one triple. Ramirez has also taken 17 walks and has a .473 OBP - fourth best in the league.Â
OFFENSE PACES A-10
