WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 announced on Tuesday afternoon that GW baseball first-year Robbie Lavey was named the conference's Co-Rookie of the Week as he continues to build on a solid start to his collegiate career. Lavey shares the honor with Saint Louis infielder Graham Mastros.
Lavey, who appeared in four contests for GW a week ago, led the team in batting average at .444. He piled up four hits in nine at-bats including his first collegiate home run in Tuesday's 9-5 win over Maryland Eastern Shore. Lavey also batted in five RBI, including three against 13th-ranked Virginia on Wednesday. He drew two walks, bringing his on-base percentage to a stellar .545 which was top for the GW Revs last week as well. Lavey scored three runs in the four games he appeared in, while also recording two doubles. He finished the week with a 1.000 slugging percentage and stole one base.
Lavey and the Revolutionaries are off to a solid start to the 2024 season, winning seven games in a row from Feb. 24 – March 5. The Buff & Blue conclude a 13-game homestand today with a contest against DMV-foe Georgetown, before traveling to Clinton, SC for a three-game weekend series with Presbyterian starting on Friday.
