Women's Basketball Falls at the Hands of GM, 87-55

WASHINGTON - On Tuesday night at the Smith Center, George Washington's women's basketball team looked to keep its record perfect at home this season, having entered play with an unblemished 5-0 mark in Foggy Bottom thus far. On the other bench, however, sat a George Mason team that brought its 7-1 record across the Potomac, looking for another notch on its resume in its quest for its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. The Patriots, whose lone loss came against 10th-ranked Maryland on Saturday, exited still just once-beaten.
GW sunk the ballgame's first bucket, but it was all George Mason after that. Entering play having outscored its opponents by an average of 21.1 ppg, while also holding opponents to 38.1% shooting from the field, George Mason improved on those numbers Tuesday. Makayla Andrews was a major bright spot for GW in the contest, knocking in a game-high 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting. George Washington also shot the ball well from distance as a team, hitting 4-of-9 from behind the arc.
The GW Revs dip back into non-conference action now for four more games, hosting Coppin State next Tuesday before making the short trip to American on Dec. 16, then traveling south for two games at the FIU Christmas Classic in Miami, Fla.
GW fans can get in the game by directly supporting student-athletes through donations to the Buff & Blue Fund. For more information on GW Athletics, fans are encouraged to visit GWsports.com, or follow the Revolutionaries on social media through X (@GWsports) and Instagram (@gwsports).
In addition, season ticket deposits for the 2024-25 GW men's and women's basketball campaigns are currently being accepted through the GW Athletics Ticket Office (202-99-GWTIX or tickets@gwu.edu).
