Redshirt junior shut down Bonnies in final start of the season
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -Â GW baseball starting pitcher Logan Koester was named the final A-10 Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Koester hurled eight dominant innings in the Buff & Blue's victory over St. Bonaventure on Thursday while striking out a career-high nine batters. The Merrick, N.Y., native scattered seven hits and walked just one in guiding GW to a 14-1 thrashing of the Bonnies.
In the process, he earned his team-leading sixth win of the year, which was good enough for second-most in the A-10. Five of the wins came against conference competition, tied for the most in the circuit. Koester finished the campaign with 89.2 innings pitched, the most in the conference. His 4.62 ERA finished just outside of the top 10 in the league.Â
