READY TO LEAD
McCaffrey was appointed to lead the GW lacrosse program in July. McCaffrey comes to GW after most recently serving as an Associate Head Coach at Bryant and brings a wealth of coaching experience from the University of Virginia and American. McCaffrey added Leah Peppelman and Olivia O'Brien to her coaching staff, with Peppelman coming to the District from Embry-Riddle and O'Brien joining the Buff & Blue after recently graduating from George Mason.
WELCOME BACKÂ
Team-leading goal scorer Katelyn Walker returns for her senior season to co-lead the GW program after netting 20 goals in 2022 and playing in all but one contest for the Buff & Blue. Walker fired 36 shots, cashing in on 20 opportunities, to boast an impressive .556 shooting percentage. Amber Germer also returns as one of GW's top offensive threats, tallying 15 goals last season and three assists. Second-year captain Kianah Watson returns for her senior season after making 13 appearances in 2022, picking up eight ground balls and causing four turnovers.
NEW FACES
GW welcomed 11 first-years as part of its 2022-23 class and added graduate students Whitney Moran and Kerry McKeever to the 2023 roster by way of McCaffrey's initial recruiting. Moran, a transfer from LIU, was selected as one of GW's four team captains this season. In addition, Elizabeth Craft and Rebekah Lenoble are new goalkeepers added by McCaffrey last fall. Craft is a first-year hailing from Germantown, Tenn., and Lenoble is a junior transfer from Presbyterian.
SCOUTING UMBC
UMBC boasts a potent offense, returning three of last season's top ten scorers in the America East in Claire Bockstie, Dymin Gerow and Kolby Weedon. The Retrievers were projected to tie for third in the America East conference.
