GW lacrosse dropped a narrow conference matchup in extras to the Davidson Wildcats at home on Saturday afternoon, 11-10. With the loss, GW moves to 7-4 with an even 2-2 mark in A-10 action.
Davidson opened the game on a 3-0 scoring run before the Revolutionaries responded with six straight goals to reclaim momentum from the visitors. The 'Cats responded with two more of their own before the break to give George Washington a one-goal advantage at halftime.
In the second half, neither team held more than a two-goal advantage over the other, and with GW down two goals late in the fourth, first-year Daisen Iwan responded with both the equalizer and the goal that guided the Buff & Blue into its first overtime of the season. Unfortunately, it was Davidson who came out ahead in extras, walking away with an 11-10 win over the Revolutionaries.
In the loss, Iwan and Grace Curry each notched four goals apiece alongside Parker Febo and Mia Milkowski, who each added one. Curry, GW's leading scorer with 52 goals on the season, now sits only three goals away from breaking the program's single-season goal record.
Kiki Rotay earned two assists on the day, while Iwan and Stella Ray once again led GW in the draw circle with a combined seven draw controls. The defensive cohort combined for 11 ground balls, and Merrill Klein led the team with two caused turnovers. Goalie Gabi Greth earned seven saves in the cage.
Up next for GW is a meeting with VCU at the Vern, set for 1 p.m. next Friday, March 27, on ESPN+.
