McCaffrey Finalizes Coaching Staff

Peppelman and O’Brien to help lead GW lacrosse
WASHINGTON – First-year lacrosse Head Coach Colleen McCaffrey has announced the addition of Leah Peppelman and Olivia O'Brien as assistant coaches.Â
Peppelman joins GW after five seasons at Embry-Riddle, including one season as the Eagles' Head Coach. Peppelman helped the 2022 Eagles to a program-best 13-4 record. In 2019, Peppelman helped the Eagles to their first winning season in program history with a 10-7 mark and three All-Conference selections.
"I am thrilled to welcome Leah to the GW lacrosse family," said McCaffrey. Leah's head coaching experience combined with her standout playing career at Lock Haven has positioned her to make an immediate impact at GW."
"Her experience at every level of lacrosse will greatly enhance our program's ability to develop leaders on and off the field," said McCaffrey.
Prior to her time at Embry-Riddle, Peppelman served as an assistant coach at NCAA III Albright College for two seasons. She also served as the head coach for the PA Express Club program for three seasons and as an assistant coach for Lanco Elite Lacrosse Club from 2014-15.
O'Brien heads to GW after recently graduating from George Mason. O'Brien capped her five seasons with the Patriots leading the Atlantic 10 in draw controls (102), clinching Mason's single-season and single-game (18) program records for draw controls. O'Brien finished her final season with 35 goals and was later named to the 2022 VaSID University Division Women's Lacrosse All-State Second Team at midfield.
"Olivia's leadership qualities and competitive mindset align with the goals of our program and the development of our student-athletes," said McCaffrey. "She will be influential in developing our draw units and will enhance the entire student-athlete experience."
