Women’s Basketball Hosts Hampton for Saturday Showdown

WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's basketball team puts its perfect home record on the line this Saturday when it welcomes Hampton to the Smith Center at 2 p.m. Live coverage for Saturday's contest will be carried on Monumental Sports Network and ESPN+.
PERFECT AT HOME
Saturday's 55-41 win over Coppin State moved GW to 4-0 on the season inside the Smith Center, the first time GW has won its first four home contests since 2016-17. With a win this Saturday against Hampton, the Revolutionaries would move to 5-0 at home, which hasn't happened since the 2010-11 season.
LOK'S BIG WEEK
Grad student Nya Lok stepped up in a big way last week for GW, leading the Buff & Blue to a 1-1 record across two games. Lok averaged 14.5 points per game over that span and registered a field goal percentage of 46.2%. Along with her scoring output, Lok also grabbed 5.5 rebounds and dished out 1.5 assists per game. On the year, Lok currently averages 9.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Following Saturday's contest with Hampton, GW will have just one non-conference game remaining before diving into the Atlantic 10 slate. GW's final non-conference contest is set for Thursday, Dec. 21, when Stonehill travels to Foggy Bottom. Tip-off with the Skyhawks is scheduled for 11 a.m. Following that contest, GW will then open A-10 play on Saturday, Dec. 30, at home against Richmond. The 2023-24 A-10 slate consists of 18 games with nine played within the friendly confines of the Smith Center.
SCOUTING THE LADY PIRATES
Hampton enters Saturday's matchup winless at 0-7 after most recently falling to New Mexico, 68-55, last Sunday. Hampton is led by long-time head coach David Six, who enters his 15th season at the helm of the program. Six is the winningest coach in Hampton women's basketball history and holds an overall mark of 261-169. Six has led the Lady Pirates to six MEAC Tournament Championships, five MEAC regular season titles, six NCAA Tournament appearances, one NIT appearance and five 20+ win seasons.
Leading the way for Hampton this season is Camryn Hill, who averages 14.4 points per game on 36.7% shooting from the field. Hill grabs 3.7 rebounds per contest and has started in all seven of Hampton's games. Cheyenne Talbot has also got off to a solid start this season, averaging 9.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Talbot also averages 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals per contest. Aisha Dabo leads the team in rebounds at 4.3 per game, while Amyah Reaves averages 3.0 assists in her four games played this year.
