Trevor Kuncl Keeps Loose in the Independent League

GW alum has appeared in 13 games for the Lake Erie Crushers
GW baseball alum Trevor Kuncl has gotten off to a quick start for the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League. Kuncl, who signed his first professional contract in June, has already made 13 appearances for the Crushers, and recorded his first professional win on June 24th. Â
Formed in 1993, the Frontier League is currently the longest running independent league in the United States. The league is made up of 14 teams spanning from St. Louis, Missouri to Quebec City, Canada. In 2020, the league became an official MLB partner league.Â
Kuncl completed his time with the Buff & Blue in 2022 by holding down the closer role and leading all GW pitchers with a team-high 28 appearances. Additionally, Kuncl finished second on the team in strikeouts (50), and he ranked fifth on the team in innings pitched (49.1). The Cincinnati, Ohio native appeared in 76 games during his GW career and struck out 117 batters.
In addition to his professional contract with Lake Erie, Kuncl is eligible for the upcoming 2022 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on July 17th.
