Tip-off between GW and the Rams is set for Wednesday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN+
WASHINGTON - Following its A-10 opener last week, GW women's basketball will return to action this Wednesday when it welcomes Rhode Island to the Charles E. Smith Center for its second battle of the conference season. Tip-off against the Rams is scheduled for 7 p.m., with coverage available on ESPN+.
AUREA WITH THE ASSIST:
Against Richmond, Aurea Gingras continued to show confidence and composure at the point guard position. The sophomore, who has started eight straight games, set a new career high with five assists last Wednesday.
Gingras' five assists are the most in a game by a Colonial player this season, and she leads GW with 24 dimes on the year (1.7 APG). The Alexandria, Va. product, who entered this season looking to build off of a strong first-year campaign, has already set new career high totals this season in points and field goals made, and is just four assists shy of a new career high assist total for a single season.
STEALING THE ROCK:
In last Wednesday's game against Richmond, GW stole the ball away from the Spiders 10 times, marking the team's third straight game with double-digit steals. Over the last three contests, the Buff & Blue have 33 total steals for an average of 11 steals a game. With 105 steals on the year, almost a third of the team's total has come just in the last three games.
CHAIRWOMAN OF THE BOARD:
Ty Moore continued her rebounding ways in GW's last game against Richmond, pulling in nine boards to go along with her 16 points as the graduate student flirted with her fourth double-double of the season. Moore has had double-digit rebounds in three games this year, and has had at least nine rebounds in six contests.
Moore, who has 90 boards this season, is ranked sixth in the A-10 in rebounding (8.2 rpg) and third in defensive rebounding (6.5).

DETAILS ON RHODE ISLAND:
Rhode Island entered the 2021-22 season with lofty expectations, having been picked second in the A-10 preseason rankings. So far the Rams have not disappointed as they rolled through their non-conference slate racking up ten wins, including victories over Power Five Virginia and Ivy League favorite Princeton.
Rhode Island is led by preseason First Team selection Emanuelle Tahane, preseason Second Team pick Marie-Paule Foppossi, and preseason Third Team pick and Seton Hall transfer Dez Elmore. Tahane, who was the 2021 A-10 Co-Player of the Year last year, leads the Rams in scoring and rebounding.
HISTORY AGAINST THE RAMS:
Wednesday will be the 51st meeting between GW and Rhode Island, and throughout the 37 year history between the two sides, the results have been well in favor of the Buff & Blue.
Currently, GW holds a 44-6 advantage over the Rams, including an impressive 25-0 record at home, and have won 10 straight games against the Rams dating back to 2011. GW's most recent victory in the series came on February 25th, 2020. In that game, George Washington had four players score in double digits, including a 10-point, five-rebound game from Mayowa Taiwo, en route to the 73-56 win.
