LOVING A-10 PLAY: After missing the majority of last season, redshirt junior Neila Luma is back to her 2018-19 form, averaging a team-high 11.0 ppg and 6.4 rpg. In her last full season of competition, Luma posted comparable marks of 10.4 ppg and 6.1 rpg. Luma has reached double figures in five straight games, tying the longest stretch of her career. She also did so in the first five conference games of the 2018-19 season, accented by posting back-to-back 22-point games at La Salle and George Mason.
MATTERS OF EFFICIENCY: First-year Ali Brigham's 18 points on Sunday came in just 21:25 of action, a recurring trend in her budding career. Brigham is a near lock to post 10+ when playing at least 18 minutes, doing so in seven of eight games and averaging 12.3 ppg in such instances. When playing 17 or fewer minutes, Brigham is averaging 7.0 ppg.
TURNING THE GAME AROUND: For the second straight game, GW set a new season-low with turnovers, committing just five on Sunday at George Mason. GW has now committed fewer than 10 turnovers in three straight games (6.3 per game). During the three-game stretch, GW has outscored its opponents 42-19 off turnovers.
As a result, the Colonials now lead the league in turnover margin (+4.3), ranking 37th nationally. Additionally, GW is second in the A-10 in turnovers per game (13.6). GW has committed the second-fewest miscues in league play (9.8) and is also second with a 1.31 assist-to-turnover ratio.
A LOOK AT THE EXPLORERS: La Salle enters play on Friday 2-4 in the league and 6-7 overall following a split weekend, falling at St. Bonaventure and topping Duquesne. The Explorers have won three of their last four overall, sprinkling in a non-conference victory over Drexel. Claire Jacobs is the team's top offensive threat, averaging 15.2 points per game to rank seventh in the A-10. Kayla Spruill, who has missed five games this year, also averages double figures with 11.4 ppg.
The Explorers have seen 12 different student-athletes earn at least one start this year and have 10 different members averaging at least 10 minutes per games. La Salle is seventh in the league in points per game (64.4) and 12th in scoring defense (67.3).
