Sophomore helped Colonials to pair of road wins over the weekend
WASHINGTON -Â GW men's tennis sophomore Lawrence Sciglitano was named the A-10 Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. It's the first career accolade for Sciglitano.
The Melbourne, Australia, native was instrumental in a pair of road wins this weekend in Ohio for the Colonials. Sciglitano teamed with Jakub Behun at #2 doubles, up one slot from their typical spot, to clinch the doubles point on Friday at Dayton before winning again on Saturday at Xavier.
In singles play, Sciglitano clinched the match against the Flyers with his victory at #5 singles (4-6, 6-2, 7-5). He then picked up his fourth win of the weekend at #5 singles against Xavier on Saturday.
Overall, Sciglitano is 4-1 in singles play and 4-4 in doubles competition so far this spring, helping lead GW to a 2-0 mark against A-10 foes.
