WASHINGTON - GW women's basketball opens up a two-game homestand on Wednesday evening by welcoming in first-place Dayton to the Smith Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
PRIDE GAME: GW is hosting its first-ever Pride Game on Wednesday, celebrating a culture of inclusivity and respect. The first 200 fans will receive a GW Pride t-shirt, and all fans are invited to attend a pregame "Hoopy Hour" in the Tin Tabernacle club featuring discounted drinks and appetizers.
LEAPS AND MAUNDS: Graduate student Alexandra Maund posted double figures for the fifth straight game on Saturday, averaging 13.0 ppg during the stretch. Maund has elevated her game in league play, leading the team with 13.8 ppg while shooting 55.8% from the field, marks that rank 11th and eighth, respectively, against A-10 foes.

Maund's mark is made even more impressive due to her efficiency, playing the fewest minutes of any of the top 12 scorers in the league. Her 23.7 points/40 minutes rate ranks third among that group.
GROWING UP BEFORE OUR EYES: Sophomore Kayla Mokwuah poured in 14 points off the bench against Davidson, reaching double figures for the third time in four A-10 affairs (11.0 ppg). Her eight double-digit efforts this year have surpassed her total from a year ago (seven).
Much like Maund, efficiency has been Mokwuah's greatest asset: She's shooting at 60.0% from the floor in A-10 play, the second-best mark in the league. Her 14 points at Davidson Saturday came on just six field goal attempts.
Mokwuah has shown a great progression in her second year at the college level, increasing her scoring production by 34% (6.5 to 8.7) and rebounding by 38% (3.7 to 5.1).
PAINTING BY NUMBERS: Needless to say, GW's post presence has been tied to its success this year. The Buff & Blue tied their season high with 40 paint points on Jan. 8 vs. Duquesne and are now +26 inside against A-10 competition. The Colonials are 6-3 when outscoring their opponent in paint points and boast the same record when outrebounding their opponent.
A LOOK AT THE FLYERS: Dayton is 5-0 in the A-10 following its 48-47 victory over Saint Louis on Sunday. The Flyers have been one of the league's best defensive teams in conference play, limiting foes to 32.6 percent shooting and 50.4 points per game in the first five affairs, both second-best in the loop. Erin Whalen is the leading scorer of a balanced attack, averaging 13.8 ppg and 5.0 rpg. Jayla Scaife (11.4 ppg) is the lone other Flyer to average double digits, but seven total players provide at least 5.5 ppg.
In addition to its defensive prowess, UD is the top 3-point shooting team in the circuit at 34.0% overall and 35.6% in conference play, also the second-best mark in the league.
