Bucknell transfer joins eight returners
WASHINGTON - GW men's tennis head coach Rob Castille announced the addition of transfer Ethan Jacobs to the team's 2019-20 roster on Tuesday. Jacobs competed for Bucknell last season and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Jacobs was a First Team All-Patriot League selection in his lone year with the Bison, become the program's first freshman since 2013 to earn the accolade. He played exclusively on court one and went 13-9, including 4-3 against Patriot League foes. Overall, he was 18-10 in singles play and captured the Flight 1 crown at the Bucknell Fall Invite.
In doubles play, the New City, N.Y., native was 13-13 overall, 9-3 in spring duals and 6-3 against Patriot League opponents.
Jacobs prepped at Clarkstown North High School where he was a four-time team MVP and two-year captain. He earned All-State honors in New York after winning the conference and section titles as a senior and was a three-time Rockland Player of the Year.
Jacobs was 55-1 in regular season play during his high school career, earning four All-League and All-County honors and three All-Section selections.
He joins eight returners from last year's youthful Colonial group in year two under Castille. GW returns 100 percent of its appearances from the spring's dual matches and features seven sophomores and two seniors on the roster.
