Colonials set for four fall tournaments
WASHINGTON - GW men's tennis head coach Rob Castille announced the team's itinerary for its fall tournaments on Friday with four weekends on the docket.
"I'm excited to get things started this fall," Castille said. "First off, this will be the first full fall for me with the team. The spring can sometimes be more difficult to work on specific things because of having matches every weekend. It'll be good to get an entire fall to work with the team."
The Colonials will open their season with a pair of trips to the U.S. Naval Academy, first visiting Annapolis for the Joe Hunt Invitational (Sept. 27-29) before returning for the Blue Invite (Oct. 11-13).
"The tournaments at Navy are a great opportunity for our team," Castille said. "They are close by and I am able to have our entire team compete in several matches."
GW will then head to the ITA Atlantic Regional (Oct. 17-22), hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
"ITA Regionals are a great opportunity for many of our student-athletes to compete against some of the best players in the country at a tremendous venue," Castille said.
The Buff & Blue will wrap up the slate with a new addition, a trip to the UNCW Team Invite (Nov. 1-3).
"It's always fun to play some different teams and players, so the UNCW tournament will afford us that opportunity to round out our fall season," Castille said.
"I know our student-athletes are working on different parts of their games this summer, so I'm looking forward to seeing the progress they've made."
