Liu wins at #6 singles for GW's point

ORLANDO, Fla. - GW men's tennis put forth a valiant effort in Friday morning's quarterfinal against No. 4 seed Dayton, but came up short in a 4-1 setback that ended the Colonials' season.

Two of the three doubles matches required a tiebreak to decide them, but Dayton was able to come away with a tiebreak win at #1 in addition to a 6-3 win at #3.

In singles play, first-year Hanyu Liu gave GW its first point with a straight-set 6-4, 6-2 win at #6, closing the overall score to 2-1. The final four matches all required a third set, with the Flyers pulling out wins at #1 and #4 to secure the 4-1 win. The Colonials were ahead in the two remaining matches with Ben Barnett at #3 and Lawrence Sciglitano at #5, showcasing the thin margin in the overall match.

Regularly playing four or five first-years in the lineup, the Colonials are poised to return the majority of its production next season.
