Afanasev responsible for GW's single tally
STERLING, Va. - GW men's tennis fell, 4-1, at the hands of Monmouth at the Trump National Golf Club, in its first of consecutive matches to finish off the week.Â
Monmouth secured the doubles point via a tiebreak at #3 as the Hawks duo was able to outlast Dennis Afanasev and Ryan Navarro, 10-5 in a tiebreak. First-years Zicheng Zeng and Ben Barnett claimed victory at #1, 7-5.
The Hawks then claimed three of the first four single matches to win the overall match. Afanasev won in straight sets at #5 for GW, 6-2, 6-4.
